Sad to say some of my former classmates from Central High have died through the years...these are just a few..
Samnang sat behind me in school and used to draw beautiful pictures...He liked Singer Tiffany..I was so suprised when I was watching the news one day in the 90's and he had been killed. :( His family escaped the horrors of the Khmer Rouge..just for him to be killed in America..Breaks my heart.
Roberto died in a car accident.
Rhonda was a very sweet girl..She died recently of Breast cancer. Class of 1990
I combined Touch's last message to me in my yearbook with his photo..I wonder what happened to him? We were very good friends. He accompanied me to Lowell Mass a few times and we attended the Cambodian Kingdom Hall together..He was sweet and kind.
With khna Seng and friend ..Khna taught me many words in Khmer and introduced me to Cambodian Pop and New wave music. We visited stores together after school and she taught me so much about her country's history and escape from khmer rouge way before I read any books on it.
I
sincerely thank the Cambodian kids at Central High school for sharing
their stories with me about the khmer rouge and their lives waaaaaaay
before I read any books on it, and Wayyyyy before any movies were made (
besides the Killing fields). They opened my eyes to the world and the
atrocities they endured and I will FOREVER be grateful. I have not
forgotten ONE single story they shared
My friend Bernice wrote this to me..one of the many who said I was the "weird one" or "different/unique" one of the class...:)
Jumping to the present..Some of my Fashions for Kingdom hall...:)
U
know..some people may not understand or "get" me..But it takes a
compilation of events to make a person who they are..Not only where they
are from, who they were raised with, but where they went to school and
how they became grown...all those factors are HUGE in a persons
life..yet we tend to judge merely on the surface when there is so much
more going on...HISTORY and LIFE STORY...we all have one.
